Description

Weaving Southwest/Rio Grande Weavers Supply is a family owned and operated business, based out of the beautiful mountains of Northern New Mexico. Surrounded by a culturally rich fiber world and a beautiful, diverse and inspirational landscape, WS/RGWS has thrived for nearly three decades. Founded in the early 1980’s, by Rachel Brown, author of The Weaving, Spinning and Dyeing Book, as a weaving supply business, RGWS became known as a destination to get high-quality hand-dyed yarns and a great variety of weaving and spinning equipment. RGWS is home to the Rio Grande Spinning Wheel and the Rio Grande Walking Loom, both designed by Rachel Brown.

Over the years RGWS grew to include Weaving Southwest, a source for beautiful locally woven textiles and the only gallery in the country to solely show locally woven contemporary tapestries. In 2008, Teresa Loveless, Rachel’s granddaughter, took over Weaving Southwest. After several years of focusing on the gallery aspect of the business, Teresa decided to concentrate more on the weaving supply portion of the business, Rio Grande Weavers Supply.

Now an online and mail order business, WS/RGWS offers a huge array of hand-dyed weaving and knitting yarns; the Rio Grande Spinning Wheel and Rio Grande Walking Loom, along with looms manufactured by Schacht Spindle Co. and Dovetail Looms; and a growing supply of weaving, spinning and dyeing equipment. While coming full circle and focusing on the supply end of the business, WS will also offer classes throughout the year, emphasizing contemporary tapestry, Navajo-style looms and walking looms.
