The ReMemberers bring THE FIREBIRD to the Taos Center for the Arts — a Russian wonder tale about a man who loses his soul to a tyrant, and what it costs to get it back. Ninety minutes of drums, ceremonial voice, and strings running underneath and through the story, woven with original and traditional song from across the globe.
Audiences call it mind cinema: the film plays in the deep recesses of your own imagination, and everyone in the room is watching their own version at once. Most people leave startled by how easily they sat with it.
John de Kadt — drums and telling — has played with Krishna Das and Mickey Hart and worked alongside Robert Bly. Violet Southard carries the voice. Alex Harvey directs and plays strings.
