A Birthday Bash & Experiment in Community – Groove Grass, Glitch, and Goblins
Hailing from Boulder, CO, The Magic Beans combine americana, funk, rock, and electronica into one. The group uses no pre-recorded tracks or samples in favor of a more traditional approach to music: original songwriting, diverse instrumentation, and a passion for blending real instruments with modern technology and musical elements of electronica. |

Other notable artists include kLLsMTH, a lively glitch hop artist from the Denver area, and Bogtrotter, who brings dark psychedelic swamp sounds all the way from Minneapolis. Local artists Groundscore and Ayavinha open up the evening.

The B-Side Players are a 9-piece band part of a new movement in popular music. A band that honors the international cross-pollination that has always made music the universal language. They use any beat that catches their ear, regardless of geography or genre, to create a compelling, horn driven polyrhythmic groove. They continue exploring the multifaceted grooves of Latin America and the Caribbean, incorporating the sounds of Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico and Brazil with the funk, rock, jazz and hip-hop rhythms of their homeland, dropping bits of Cumbia, Salsa, gritty street Samba, Son Montuno, Jarocho and Boogaloo into the mix.

Psychedelic Country Blues from Austin, Texas
Sunday February 15
6pm / tickets 10 |

Texas singer-songwriter Ramsay Midwood’s music is at once highly idiosyncratic but also as familiar as a bad habit. His bluesy, rootsy romps instantly start your head bobbing as his bizarre lyrics full of rich, Southern Gothic visuals set your imagination flowing. His style and lyric-making ability will excite and confuse you in the way that good poetry can. His music is bright with surprise, sultry beat, and innovative comparative operators. One can liken his sound and style to a potpourri of incense and smoky vapors complicated by the thick heat of a swamp and spiced with healthy dashes of salt, sandpaper, and beer foam. A strong sense of plain-stated, Southern Gothic surrealism helps buoy the themes of loss and redemption infused throughout his work. You’ve not heard another musician like him.
“Take a healthy dose of John Prine, a dollup of Bringing It All Back Home electric Dylan, a pinch of early Tom Waits, a sprinkle of Charlie Poole, and a splash of Lightin’ Hopkins…the result might be as intriguing as Midwood’s first album, Shoot Out at the OK Chinese Restaurant.”
