At the winter solstice, the ancient people of Japan told tales of Amaterasu Omikami, the sun goddess who, faced with suffering and chaos, retreated to a cave and plunged the Earth into darkness. It was only in seeing her own reflection that the sun returned her light to the world. In a time of darkness, how are we like Amaterasu and how might we seek light in our own reflections?
