Adapted from William Shakespeare.
Prospero, Duke of Milan, also a skilled magician, is kidnapped by his scheming brother Antonio and set to sea in a boat with his little daughter Miranda. He washes ashore a magical isle inhabited by spirits of the air including Ariel, his special love, and lower spirits such as Caliban. He brings all under his power and dispells the witch Sycroax. As the play opens, years have passed, Miranda has grown into a beauty, and he longs to return to Milan. How Prospero conjures his return Shakespeare reveals in this: His final work, a fascinating, extraordinary play.
Taos Children’s Theatre invokes the magic of the isle with bands of Fairies, joined by Goddesses, shadow puppetry, and shipwrecked royal beings.
