The Season of Fire and Light

Sunday, May 3rd, 2026

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Price: free, donations appreciated

Taos Community of Love (Formerly Unity of Taos)

Pagan ceremonies celebrate changes, shifts, the coming of new perspectives, all represented in the seasons of the earth. Beltane, halfway between the Spring equinox and Summer solstice, welcomes summer with symbolic acts involving fire, light, and erotic energy. This talk invokes various (positive and negative) meanings of fire and light in our spiritual journeys—such as purification and awakening.
Jimmie Killingsworth, Professor Emeritus of English from Texas A&M University, is better known in Taos as a local musician in such groups as Anam Cara, The Neighbors, and Fairy Jazz Orchestra. He is the author of many books and articles, mostly academic things, on such topics as American literature, rhetoric, and the environment. In his most recent books he turns his attention to nature writing and the human experience of the natural world.
