OUT TAOS celebrates the creative force of LGBTQIA+ artists living and working in Taos County. Showcasing work across mediums—from painting and sculpture to fiber, photography, and installation—this exhibition brings visibility to queer expression rooted in identity, place, and resilience.
More than a gallery show, OUT TAOS centers both the art and the artists behind it. Expanded wall texts and personal narratives offer a deeper connection to the lived experiences of participating artists. The exhibition also marks the beginning of a long-term oral history project, preserving and sharing LGBTQIA+ stories from the region.
Curated by J. Matthew Thomas with community guidance and support, OUT TAOS is a love letter to queer creativity in Northern New Mexico—a bold expression of pride, belonging, and possibility.
