SLIVER 815 occupies a long, narrow corridor inside Taos Lifestyle at 815 Paseo del Pueblo Sur.
SLIVER 815 Gallery presents Books: Volume I, the first of two exhibitions in which five artists working in the book arts push their practice off the table and onto the wall. Volume I features work by Jamie Ash, Sara Bush, and Deborah McLean, and opens with a reception on Saturday, August 8, from 5 to 7 p.m.
For the past two years the Taos Book Arts Group has kept a dedicated glass case in the Sliver 815 gallery, containing a running display of handmade and artist’s books. The premise is simple and unusually well suited to the space. Books: Volume I takes that structure literally, bringing the artist’s books to the walls of the gallery for the first time, reflecting the breadth of possibilities with respect to form and content from traditional book forms to sculpture abstract forms.
