203 Fine Art
203 Fine Art is pleased to present the vibrant and expressive paintings and collages of abstract artist Beatrice Mandelman from the 1970s, including her celebrated Sun Series. The artist, who died in 1998, was a member of the Taos Moderns. Intertwined in shape and color, these layered pieces are reflective of a land and a life that became distilled in art history.
Leaving behind New York City for Taos in 1944, the artist would go on to become one of the most well-known members of the Taos Modern group. Her ability to translate rather than simply record gave a sense of originality to the light, the land, and the cultures that have been documented by artists here for over a century.
The included artworks come from the artist’s estate at the University of New Mexico, where partial proceeds from all sales support the Fine Arts Department.
