Rio Arriba County (See description for specific location.)

Los Luceros Historic Site is located at 253 County Road 41, Alcalde, NM 87511.
Join Los Luceros Historic Site for their annual Sheep Shearing Day for a great opportunity to see Navajo-Churro sheep up close and learn more about them. Visitors can watch traditional hand-bow sheep shearing and then help to skirt the wool as it comes off the sheep. Sheep shearing day also includes an early-morning guided bird walk, a children’s story time and weaving activity, drop-spinning workshops for all ages, and a drawing workshop. Food trucks will be on site, including Manko, Teriyaki Queen, and Fistful of Butter. Site Admission is free to all NM residents and $7/adults for non-residents. Free to children 16 and younger, Indigenous People, NM Foster Families, NM Disabled Veterans, and MNMF Members. Workshops are free but require advance registration by calling 505-476-1165.
