Patricia Michaels “Fashion and Fantasy”

Saturday , April 13th, 2024

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The Wright Contemporary Gallery

The designs of Patricia Michaels are deeply rooted in Native American culture, especially that represented by the Taos Pueblo, where she has strong ties. She was introduced to a national following when she participated in “Project Runway” in 2012 and was named first runner-up. She has since been honored at New York’s Fashion Week and by the Peabody Essex Museum and the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. Other awards have followed, including most recently, in 2023, the Governors Award from the State of New Mexico. At the Wright, Michaels offers up examples of her stunning fashions and state-of-the-art textiles, often made from sustainable materials. She continues to draw inspiration from nature and named her company, PM Waterlily, after her Native name, vowing to keep her traditions alive through the interconnectedness of her fashions.
