Mountain Man Rendezvous

Come visit the annual encampment of the American Mountain Man, showcasing the tools and traditions of the fur trade from 1800–1840.

Bring the family for daily demonstrations on:

  • brain tanning with hides & furs
  • flint knapping
  • blacksmithing
  • knife making
  • bow & arrow making
  • trap setting
  • fishing
  • belt weaving
  • cooking in clay pots
  • baking in an adobe oven
  • sign language & hand talking
  • period-correct guns
  • period-correct women’s clothing
  • 10 different ways to start a fire
Trade with the Mountain Men
They’ll be laying out their blankets with rare finds such as heirloom seeds, handmade felt hats, period tools, weapons, housewares, literature, clothing, leather goods, trekking & camping gear, and more.
Entry
Outdoor access to the encampment is free and open to the public. Tour the museum with regular admission. Your contribution is appreciated!
