Norlynne Coar’s artistic career began with the 1979 Taos Open Awards exhibition, launching a creative journey that would span decades and continents—from Taos to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Europe.
Working across media – photography, watercolor, monotype, oil, and clay sculpture — Coar defies categorization. Her art lives in the liminal space between the recognizable and the abstract, the tangible and the transcendent.
Today, Coar paints in a palette of blue: waves of movement, clouds in motion, swimmers drifting through layered space. In Taos, the sky has become her sea, the clouds and mesas her waves.
