Jason Garcia (Okuu Pín/Santa Clara Pueblo Tewa), the 2025 New Mexico Arts Artist-in-Residence currently working at Los Luceros Historic Site, will lead a hands-on workshop on comic design recommended for people ages 13 and older. The workshop will take place at the Los Luceros Community Room, 253 Co Rd 41, Alcalde, NM 87511, and is free. Space is limited to 28 people. Call Los Luceros at 505-475-1165 to register.
Garcia’s work documents the ever-changing cultural landscape of his home of K’haPo Owingeh/Santa Clara Pueblo. Using traditional materials and traditional Pueblo pottery techniques coupled with various printmaking techniques, this juxtaposition of customary and contemporary materials and techniques connects him to his Ancestral past, landscape, and cultural knowledge.
