Big Violet plays with the kind of chemistry that is true Taos. Describing their sound as High Desert Americana Rock, the band builds a rich landscape of tone—layering guitar, bass, drums, and violin beneath powerhouse vocals. The result is music that feels lived-in yet unpredictable, grounded in roots traditions but unafraid to explore new textures.
Formed in 2022 and recorded locally at Greg Thum’s Taos studio, Big Violet has already carved out a loyal following across New Mexico’s live-music scene. Lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Audra Rodgers, who plays thirteen different instruments, leads the charge with emotional depth and fearless range. Each performance captures the spirit of the high desert—expansive, warm, and raw in all the right ways.
