Cooper's Garage in Taos

Four artist-collectors delve into their collections to present the first of a series of exhibitions of art by women. The twelve artists in the May show were all born in the decade of World War II (1938 to 1952 to be exact), were trained in art schools across the globe, and matured during feminist movement of the 1960s. Each eventually found her way to Taos. The artists are Dora Dillistone, Alexandra Benjamin, Sandra Lerner (these three are collectors and artists, pictured here at Cooper’s Garage) along with Nora Anthony, Lynda Benglis, Jane Ellen Burke, AnnaBush Crews, Lydia Garcia, Annell Livingston, TJ Mabrey, Marcia Oliver and Mimi Chen Ting.

Cooper’s Garage is a temporary contemporary art space in the warehouse district of Taos. The 5,000 sq.ft. space was formerly home to Ron Cooper’s vast collection of cars. The space is located at 200-B Bendix Drive, off Camino del Canon West between Medio and Salazar. Cooper’s Garage is a project of Taos artists Ron Cooper, Larry Bell, Gus Foster, and Dora and Carl Dillistone.
