On Friday, April 25, from 6 – 8:30pm, head down to Salon X for the opening of a month-long show called Xphrasis.
Ekphrasis is writing that comments upon another art form. In this particular show, 14 visual artists are paired with 14 writers; hung alongside each piece of art will be a poem or piece of flash fiction inspired by the artwork. There will also be an original musical performance by singer/songwriter Meredith Blis.
You can get an early taste of the show at this blog. The blog is designed as a space for writers and artists to be inspired by each others’ work — post your piece, and wait to see if someone else is moved to submit a reply. The guest list on facebook for the Friday, April 25th opening shows a veritable who’s-who of Taos artists, writers, and personalities — it should be a fantastic opening reception, and an all-around good time.
