Printed Matter II opens in Taos for one night only on Saturday February 6th at 555 Gallery at 1022 Reed Street. It is a showcase of 20+ printmakers from Taos, Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Penasco, Silver City, San Luis Colorado and Scottsdale Arizona. The work on view will be a wide spectrum of commercial and non-commercial artwork done by local artists and print shops using a variety of techniques including: silk screening, linotype, letter press, photo-transfer and other non-digital, hand crafted graphics-which range from $3-$1,000.

Originally curated by Tim Jag of The Baca Arts Project in Santa Fe, Printed Matter opened to great success at Offroad Productions in Santa Fe on January 22 — there was literally a line to get in. Tim and his partners at the Baca Arts Project- a cooperative art studio and gallery- started exploring the world of screen-printing and Tim was interested in the work and the studio spaces of print shops in the region. Tim was impressed will the talent and the spectrum of work coming from these presses. He thought it would be great idea to gather all of them under one roof for a special showcase. After the success in Santa Fe show, Forge of Serigrafix offered to move the show to 555 Gallery in Taos.

The 555 Gallery is a workspace and special event gallery shared by Forge, Nick Beason, and Aya Trevino. Every now and then, sometimes without warning, 555 invites you to experience “one night only” art viewings, installations, performance art pieces, music or whatever ingenious creativity flows from emerging, and established artists of Taos, New Mexico and beyond.
