The Taos Shortz Film Festival kicks off tonight, which is cool, and you can read about it here, here, and here, oh and on the cover of this week’s Tempo. So we at LiveTaos don’t feel the need to belabor the point — go to the film festival, you won’t regret it. (View the full schedule at their website — seriously, it’s gaining some real international momentum and you should definitely get out and support.)
That said, what we’re REALLY excited about is the TAOS SHORTZ FILM FESTIVAL WRAP PARTY, on Sunday, March 10 at Taos Mesa Brewing Company. Anyone who went to the Polish Ambassador feat. Liminus show at the brewery last month knows that TMB is the uncontested master of the Taos all-ages party scene right now, so this is a show you don’t want to miss. (All band descriptions were shamelessly stolen from the Shortz Party facebook page.)

SPINDRIFT
Spindrift is a psychedelic Spaghetti Western Grindhouse Rock ‘n Roll band! Featured on Quentin Tarantino soundtracks and heavily influenced by The Doors, My Bloody Valentine, Hawkwind, Bruce Haack, and Chrome.

GRAM RABBIT
Disco-pop, off-kilter country, and psychedelic rock find an eccentric home in the music of Gram Rabbit, a female-led quartet from the deserts of Southern California.

ART OF FLYING
Taos’s own Art of Flying take a ghostly, lost-on-the-moor sound and transfer it to the desert. Their music moves from stonerish low rock to raw-boned country folk, Dylan-esque word paintings to Tom Waits-like demishanties, and, sometimes, there’s even an unlikely hint of Kate Bush.
