This Small Business Saturday, November 26th tea.o.graphy holds a soft opening for its new shop space, and Taos Clay invites you into the studio for some holiday cheer.
So you ate all the turkeys and gave all the thanks — you’re in the mood to shop, right? At least that’s the prescribed formula for this coming holiday weekend. But wait a minute, lucky for you — you’re in Taos! Master of your own destiny, this holiday weekend you will not be entranced by the low low prices on large box store deals. In fact, the mall is just a figment of your imagination. What then is an avid holiday shopper to do? Say it with me now — SHOP LOCAL!!!
Get into the holiday spirit this weekend with two fabulous parties held by two locally owned businesses.
tea.o.graphy, Taos’ favorite local tea company run by the intrepid and totally tea-talented Dana Blair is holding a soft opening for their new teashop this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The shop is tucked off of Kit Carson Road across the street from Caffe Tazza in Bond Court.
If you’re a tea junkie, you’ve probably already tasted Dana’s exquisite blends at the Farmer’s Market, Cid’s or restaurants around town like Gutiz. Now tea.o.graphy has its very own home, and they’re ready to celebrate! All day long there will be tea tastings. You can check out tea ware by local potters and other fun ideas for holiday gifts. tea.o.graphy offers a fantastic Tea of the Month package which makes a great gift for loved ones near and far, or for yourself!
The party really gets going at 2 p.m. with a silent auction and light refreshments. A portion of the proceeds will go to the “Steve Beats Cancer” Medical Fund. Steve Chavez is a driving force on the tea.o.graphy team — sales person, carpenter, special delivery — you name it, Steve gets it done. So we’re all confident he’ll kick cancer’s ass with the same effortless grace as he does everything else. But, as the old adage says, no man is an island, so he’s still going to need our help.
After you’ve sampled your favorite brew, head North to El Prado where Taos Clay is holding a party all weekend long. It’s the studio’s third annual Open House. They’ll have live potter demos and kiln firings. There will be a raffle with handmade gifts by Taos Clay’s resident artists and handmade ornaments to glaze for the kiddos.
In addition to mugs, cups, stocking stuffers, sculptures and centerpieces on display in the gallery, there will also be studio-wide deals on classes, gift cards and summer workshops. Taos Clay is also offering free gift wrapping through the holidays! What?!? In your face, mega malls!
Taos Clay is managed and owned by Brandi Lynn Jessup. Brandi grew up in Greybull, Wyoming and has traveled around the country working at craft centers. Taos Clay is committed to growing our visual arts community by building opportunities for lifelong learning and experimentation. So do stop by and see what they’ve got cooking, or firing!
