The Taos High School Photography Program is a new organization that is currently comprised of two photography classes. Students interested in photography may also come after school on Wednesdays to learn more about the art form. In December, the program recently acquired photography equipment, including DSLR cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and editing software. Headed by Taos High School teacher Mr. Daniel Long, the THS Photography Program is trying to raise awareness of its existence in order to promote class work and raise funds.
The photography classes take on various assignments throughout the year, including making portfolios and learning about photography techniques. Many of these photos were captured with cell phone cameras. The photography program hopes to encourage other students to join the class and become interested in the art of photography.
On April 18, selected members of the photography program will be taking free photos at Twirl Taos. Parents are encouraged to bring their children in order to get spring portraits!
The THS Photography Program will also be having a presentation at Night of A Thousand Stars on the same day. The show starts at 7:30pm and will be held at the TCA. The class will be presenting a slideshow of some of their best work throughout the school year.
The Taos High School Photography Program will soon be showing their work at Cafe Tazza. Starting May 1, people can view work by THS Photography students displayed on the coffee shop’s walls.
In addition to these community events, the Taos High School Photography Program is available to shoot private events on request using its professional studio equipment. The program offers competitive rates. Contact Daniel Long at [email protected] for more information.
