On Saturday, February 22, 2014, come up to Taos Ski Valley for a fun-filled day of events to support a great cause!
Taos Ski Valley and Studio Karina have once again joined forces with K2 to host a collaborative celebration of two unique fundraising events on Saturday, February 22, 2014 to benefit two organizations: Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) – a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness, and fundraising foundation whose mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle; and the Anita Salas Memorial Fund – a nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance for breast cancer services in New Mexico. Skiers, artists, families, and visitors are invited to spend a day at Taos Ski Valley in support of this important cause.
The event hosts an online fundraiser, the Third Annual K2 Bumps Challenge, a marathon down the infamous Al’s Run, and a snowboard art auction called Paint for Peaks. The event promotes an active lifestyle while raising awareness and funds for Boarding for Breast Cancer’s education and support programs. Come out and ski or ride in teams of two, or tackle the feat on your own! Athletes must raise a minimum of $100 to participate.
After the on-mountain Bumps Challenge, team riders, their supporters, visitors and other members of the community will join in the Martini Tree Bar for the awards ceremony and an unrivaled art exhibit. Entering its fifth year of success, Taos Ski Valley and Studio Karina will once again host Paint for Peaks: Snowboard Art Auction featuring custom, one-of-a-kind artwork created on snowboards produced by renowned local and regional artists. All proceeds from the art sale will go to B4BC and local non-profit, the Anita Salas Memorial Fund. K2 has donated the snowboards that will serve as the canvases for artists to create a work of art for this year’s event.
This event showcases the best of Taos, bringing together art lovers and ski enthusiasts committed to the cause. We can’t think of a better way to spend the day or a better cause to support!
