Living in Interesting Times: Poetry Meets History: A Reading with Poets Joanne Fay Brown and Veronica Golos
Joanne Brown will read from her debut poetry collection, Independence Day. Brown came of age during the “McCarthy Era”; her poems reflect her experience during those historic times and her growing beyond them. Honors include Persimmon Tree Western States Poetry Contest Winner and Pinesong’s Mary Ruffin Poole American Heritage Award. She is an Amherst Writers & Artists instructor, offering Write to Heal — a writing workshop for cancer patients and survivors.
Veronica Golos will read from her various poetry books: including GIRL, awarded the Naji Naaman Honor Prize, 2019 (Beirut, Lebanon). She is on the Editorial Advisory Board the Taos Journal of Poetry, and teaches poetry for Hugo House, Gemini Ink, and SOMOS.
Q&A / Conversation and snacks to follow the readings.
