Indigenous Voices: Short films by Emerging Filmmakers in New Mexico
SAT Nov 30, 3pm
11 short films by emerging Indigenous filmmakers in New Mexico followed by a Q & A and a Meet and Greet with filmmakers from the program.
About:
In the summer of 2024, The Graduate Film program at New York University Tisch School of the Arts conducted a three-week workshop for Indigenous Director-Writers to develop their skills and voices in support of Indigenous storytelling. The workshop was led by instructors from the Graduate Film program at NYU Tisch in collaboration with Santa Fe Community College and the Institute of American Indian Arts.
The workshop culminated in a week where each student directed their own micro short film.
The Graduate Film program at New York University Tisch School of the Arts believes that the industry should create space for and feature the stories and experiences of the people from the 23 Nations, Tribes and Pueblos in New Mexico, including those films where Native American filmmakers are empowered to tell their own stories and shape their own place in the wider cultural discourse.
