The Wright Contemporary Gallery
Marietta Patricia Leis often parallels the aims of Florence Pierce in a similarly luminescent vein. Leis is a world traveler, who has participated in more than 20 residencies, and her experience of different corners of the globe has deeply informed her practice. “A reductive technique operates most subliminally in the contemplative nature of my work, which invites the viewer to look deeply and observe the subtleties of materials and medium,” she writes. “My reflections of trees and abstractions found in the natural world, along with my use of light and shadow, bring a focused attention to the fleeting and subtle sense of atmosphere and mood. A closer look can inspire a meditative reverie, allowing the viewer to sense the vibratory and resonant nature of our world.” The exhibition continues through July 12.
