Beginning Labor Day weekend, we’ll be showing the witty, seductive ceramics of Olga Brava, a transplant to Taos from Boston, who first began exhibiting her paintings in SoHo in the early aughts. She has been in our backyard since 2020, exploring wood-fired stoneware and traditional pit-fired techniques. On Sunday September 3, at 7 pm, the TCA will present a documentary by Olga and Kyle Knyazev-Julinski called “Feeding the Fire,” about 11 Taos potters and ceramic artists who come together to wood-fire their work over the course of seven days and nights in two giant kilns in the desert. Each potter and sculptor tells the story of their journey in the art of ceramics and describes how the age-old tradition of wood firing influences their work. Artists featured in the film will exhibit some of their work in the lobby of the TCA and will be present for a meet-and-greet after the screening.
