In this 4 week course professional actor Chris Brochu will walk you through all the steps to create a connected and memorable performance. The intention is to create a safe, productive space for actors to challenge themselves, learn, grow and become confident within the process alongside other creatives!
The following 4 classes will be structured as such:
Nov 19 Week 1 – Detective Work: Read the scene and Chris walks students through the “Actors Checklist”. Exploration and information is the name of the game for Week 1.
Dec 3 Week 2 – Memorization: Chris requires that students are fully memorized by Week 2. We will then run the scene and he will give each student individual direction and specific things to work on.
Dec 10 Week 3 – Diving Deeper: After memorization is complete students then start linking the scene to their own personal experience/emotions. We take the time to find out where it resonates emotionally within each student.
Dec 17 Week 4 – Performance: By this time each student will be dialed in and should find freedom within their performance. Chris will give students suggestions on books to read and send them off to work/explore with a deeper knowledge of the craft!
About Chris Brochu – Artistic Statement
I believe “process is forever” should be the motto of every artist. We should find solace in the fact that we can never stop learning, exploring & growing. My hope is to help actors, in every stage of their journey, navigate this abstract art-form while empowering & guiding them in their creative pursuit.
For the past 16 years, I’ve proudly served as a SAG/AFTRA actor. You may have caught me in roles such as ‘The Big Cigar‘, ‘Zero Contact‘, ‘The Vampire Diaries‘, ‘Shameless‘, ‘Soul Surfer‘, ‘Dynasty‘, ‘Station 19‘, and more. To explore my full resume click HERE.
Whether you’re preparing for an audition, aiming to deepen your understanding of this art form, or seeking guidance as a first-time actor, I am here to help you put your best foot forward. So you can break a leg… Sorry, just a little acting joke, I couldn’t resist!
