Taos Center for the Arts
The Taos Youth Ensemble is seeking young actors, all levels of experience, with a passion to perform and commit to a six-month process in creating an original production to be staged at the TCA: Adventures of a Young Daydreamer.
Classes will meet every Saturday, starting in October, at Taos Dance Academy with two different age groups scheduled: Junior (ages 6-10), 1-2pm; Senior (ages 11 and up), 2-4pm. Improv, theater games, development of craft, character-building, dance, movement, and more, will be included as aspects of the ongoing process in bringing to life this theatrically epic adventure.
ADVENTURES OF A YOUNG DAYDREAMER: Eleven-year-old Pip, a chronic daydreamer, discovers the enchanted realm of Pycopay, where he undertakes a quest for the mythical Kindness Trees. During his otherworldly odyssey, he encounters a spirited medley of characters: Phezz, the lost girl and her curls; Slapstick Charly, chaser of Locomotive Moons and lover of blueberry pie, Mesquale, the mind-grinding monkey; Dutch, the old man with a Queen Bee stuck in his brain, and many others. Pip’s journey through Pycopay teaches him about the power of language, storytelling, imagination, and the importance of compassion and friendship.
Classes will be broken into two semesters (I: October-December, II: January-March), with plans to stage the show in April. Limited enrollment. For payment rates and registration, email: [email protected]
