Description:

“Historic Weaving Exhibition Opening: “Natural Wool Sarapes” From “Indigenous and Hispanic Textiles from Old Mexico,” the second of a six-part series at Tres Estrellas Design Gallery in downtown Taos.

On exhibit will be examples of late 19th Century and early 20th Century (1890-1930) Hispanic Wool Sarapes (wearing blankets).  Natural Wool Sarapes were not a regional style but woven all over Mexico, particularly in the North and South. Distinctive to this category is the use of wool warp.

The Series: Featured will be examples of distinct groups of historical sarapes over the course of six openings.  Each exhibit will hang for a two month duration through 2018 and beyond.

Tres Estrellas Design Gallery is located at 208 Ranchitos Road, one block west of the plaza. For more information contact us at 575-770-3262 or [email protected]
