Christine Taylor Patten and Gendron Jensen shared a life in drawing and a home in Vadito, NM, until Jensen’s death in 2019. Though both were dedicated to simple means—graphite and lithography for Gendron, ink and crow quill pen for Christine—their styles were emphatically divergent. Known as “the bone man,” Jensen collected animal bones on his treks through the woods & took them home to immortalize in his studio. This exhibition includes the seldom seen six-foot-tall masterworks from his early career.
Taylor Patten’s vision is almost mystical, as she wakes at 3 a.m. to pursue her “minis” while reading T.S. Eliot. She works in ink on paper using a crow-quill pen, making images as large as 7 by 24 feet and as small as 2.5 by 2.5 inches.
