Born in the heart of Dixon, NM, Box Canyon Barbies is an alt indie/folk rock band with a unique story.
Formed by Michael Garcia, a retired coal train conductor, and Kayo Müller, a former circus artist originally from Brazil, their music brings together two worlds you wouldn’t expect to collide.
They create songs that blend raw emotion with clever humor, capturing life’s full spectrum from the gritty soul of railroad blues to the wide-open freedom of the high desert and the creative layers of performing arts. With genre bending sound, mixing instrumentals and harmonies with lyrics that fuse two languages and cultural influences, they strike a balance between playful sarcasm and genuine depth.
And it’s not just about the stories they tell, it’s about the rhythm that moves you. Their sound pulls you in, inviting you to rock out, lose yourself, and find something deeper along the way.
Alongside talented musicians like Antonio Vigil on stand-up bass, and “Cornman” on drums , their music becomes a celebration of life, healing, navigating new relationships, and the search for true love. Every song is a journey, with raw emotion and unexpected twists.
