Native Roots coordinates educational classes and workshops based on land-based spirituality, self-care, and community healing. Their summer classes provide a remarkable opportunity for people to meet with many extraordinary traditional healers from around New Mexico. This includes Emigdio Ballon who is director of the Institute of Natural and Traditional Knowledge and Agricultural Director of the Pueblo of Tesuque. Emigdio was also featured in the documentary “Seeds”. Lakota Sundance Chief Howard Badhand, Curandera Tonita Gonzales, UNM instructor Ana Chavez, and Henrietta Gomez from Taos Pueblo are among others who will be teaching the series.
Bernadette Torres will be teaching June 17 about Connecting and Empowering the Feminine through Plant Medicine + Medicinal Plant Walk. Cost is by sliding scale. Classes are open to tribal members of New Mexico on a donation basis.
