Hibernation is over, people. Let’s get out of the house and see what’s happening in and around Taos this spring. And if you know anything about Taos, you know there’s always something going on.

¡Pollinate! Pop-up Fair and Picnic April 22

First up is ¡Pollinate! Pop-up Fair and Picnic, an Earth Day celebration in downtown Questa, 12-4pm on Friday, April 22. There will be a free picnic lunch, face-painting, “plant-a-seed” activities, crafts and more. Bring the kids! More info here.

Sprinconada April 22 – 24

The weekend of April 22-24, head south for Sprinconada, a three-day open house hosted by the artists and galleries of Rinconada, 10-5 every day. Check out the array of furniture, weaving, ceramics, jewelry, painting, antiques and more. Stay for a brew or a glass of wine – there are multiple wineries nearby and a microbrewery right in the heart of things. Check it out.

Invent Event April 23

Be sure to check out Invent Event, Saturday April 23, when Twirl Toystore and Playspace co-sponsors their second-annual “celebration of creativity and technology,” at the Enos Garcia Gym. They will have a staggering amount of activities for the whole family, including a giant marble run, drone demonstrations, robotics, upcycling crafts, and countless more. Santa Cruz Feast Day @ Taos Pueblo May 3

On Tuesday, May 3, Taos Pueblo hosts Santa Cruz Feast Day, starting with traditional foot races at 8am. Stick around for the traditional Corn Dance in the afternoon, sometime around 1:00pm. Whether you live in Taos or are just visiting, having access to a cultural treasure like Taos Pueblo is something to appreciate. LMNOC Broadcasting’s Mother’s Day Celebration May 6, 7, 8

Looking for live music? Then head for LMNOC Broadcasting’s Mother’s Day Celebration, May 6-8 at Kit Carson Park. This popular event, featuring traditional Spanish and New Mexican rhythms, is a treat for anyone looking to do a little dancing and the perfect event for visiting with family and friends. Taos Lilac Festival May 20-27

Next up is the fantastically floral Taos Lilac Festival, May 20-27. This party is a weeklong celebration of the aromatic flower and includes a multitude of activities, including an arts & crafts fair, 5K run, pet parade, live music, and a taco cook-off, just to name a few. Red River Motorcycle Rally May 26-30

Want something a little louder? Rev your engines for the Red River Memorial Day Motorcycle Rally, May 26-30, when 20,000 people, most of them on motorcycles, roar into Red River. Music on the Mesa June 3-5

Finally, right around the corner is the second annual Music on the Mesa, an Americana festival June 3-5, at Taos Mesa Brewing. The first year was a big success, bringing top-notch performers from all over the country, and this year looks even better, with headliners Shawn Colvin and Steve Earle, The Old 97’s, Elephant Revival and dozens more.
